Associate Director, Data Engineering, D&T

As an Associate Director of Data Engineering within our Data & Technology group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our data strategy and enabling the delivery of high-quality data products across clinical, safety, and corporate domains.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the strategy, design, and roadmap for our enterprise lake house using medallion architecture.
• Oversee the performance, security, and lifecycle management of data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
• Build, mentor, and lead global data engineering teams while fostering a culture of innovation and operational rigor.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure trusted, well-governed data delivery that supports analytics and AI initiatives.
• Champion capability development in cloud engineering, Databricks, CI/CD, SQL, and Python.

Requirements

• Extensive experience implementing and supporting enterprise data initiatives on cloud platforms, specifically Azure Databricks.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, modern data management tools, and development frameworks.
• Strong leadership experience managing technical personnel and large-scale data integration projects.
• Deep understanding of architectural best practices and medallion architecture-based data lake implementations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; experience in a life sciences or GxP environment is highly desirable.
