Architect

Akamai Technologies is seeking an experienced Architect to join the Change Safety Governance team. In this role, you will play a critical part in safeguarding one of the world's largest distributed systems by guiding system owners through complex risk management and ensuring the reliability of global internet infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Research and understand Akamai's platforms, products, and services to analyze their interdependencies.
• Review and approve change strategies, partnering with subject matter experts to identify technical improvements and safety risks.
• Collaborate with executives and system owners to ensure prioritized risk mitigation is effectively implemented.
• Work with cross-functional teams to maintain and evolve global Reliability Standards.

Requirements

• Over 8 years of relevant experience in computer science or a research-focused technical field.
• Strong systems thinking skills to analyze complex architectures and identify key risk factors.
• Solid knowledge of IP networks, DNS, routing, and communication protocols such as HTTP, TCP, and UDP.
• Understanding of core computer configurations, including operating systems, containers, and encryption.
• Ability to independently research and analyze technical documentation, specifications, and code.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting complex ideas to diverse stakeholders.
