AI Tutor - Design Specialist

xAI is seeking a talented AI Design Specialist to help refine and enhance our AI models by providing high-quality data annotations and design-focused inputs. You will play a critical role in training Grok to distinguish between mediocre and exceptional design, ensuring our systems produce clear, functional, and well-resolved outputs across various creative disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate design outputs across visual assets, layouts, websites, and interactive prototypes to identify functional and aesthetic strengths and weaknesses.
• Refine, restyle, or recreate design outputs to produce high-quality reference examples that set a standard for excellence.
• Write precise, well-reasoned critiques and annotations that articulate the difference between good and excellent design.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop evaluation rubrics and datasets that improve model performance.
• Maintain consistent quality and judgment across a wide range of design briefs and styles.

Requirements

• Demonstrated design excellence in a professional discipline such as graphic design, UI/UX, web design, or illustration.
• A strong portfolio showcasing finished, high-quality work and a sharp eye for design fundamentals like typography, composition, and visual hierarchy.
• Ability to evaluate design quality objectively, even outside of your primary specialty, with clear communication skills.
• Fluency in English with excellent written communication for providing detailed design rationale.
• High attention to detail and the ability to work effectively from evolving instructions in a fast-paced environment.
