Accounting Automation Engineer

Spotter Labs is seeking an Accounting Automation Engineer to streamline manual processes across finance and business systems. You will identify repetitive tasks, connect disparate data sources, and build scalable, accurate workflows that improve operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Review manual accounting and finance workflows to identify and implement automation opportunities.
• Develop repeatable processes using scripts, templates, and dashboards to reduce manual data entry.
• Design robust controls to ensure automation improves accuracy and reliability in financial reporting.
• Collaborate with accounting, finance, and operations teams to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Document all processes clearly to ensure long-term maintainability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Proven experience automating workflows using tools such as Python, SQL, Excel, Power Query, VBA, or automation platforms like Zapier and Make.
• Strong understanding of accounting and finance processes, including reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify failure points, and design cleaner, more efficient workflows.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical solutions for non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical mindset and a proactive approach to solving real-world business problems.
