#688 Python Backend Engineer (Comms Core)

We are currently seeking a skilled Python Backend Engineer to join our Comms Platform team, which manages critical transactional communications including email, SMS, and push notifications to ensure seamless customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly team goals while leading engineers through complex, open-ended technical challenges.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams to articulate technical constraints and make informed trade-offs.
• Proactively identify and resolve project, process, or technology issues to maintain high operational standards.
• Foster a culture of quality by setting and improving code review and design standards across the organization.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure the reliability and availability of our communication services.

Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems using Python.
• Proven track record of building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL/Dynamo, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to define technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple, and extensible designs.
• Proficiency in making significant changes within large codebases while maintaining safety and quality.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration within a global engineering team.
